SFL 280-Dynamics of Clothing
I toured two different store that
had all types of clothing for women, men, and children. I visited the Sundance
General Store up at Sundance Mountain Resort and Called to Surf in the River-bottoms.
These two stores are fairly alike in their styles, but the price point is very
different. The Sundance General Store has a very high price point. Most of the
shirts are over 100 dollars, and some even over 200 dollars. Called to Surf has
a lower price point. Most of the nicer shirts are around 40 dollars.
The Sundance General Store has
high fashion brands are top trends. They carry clothing from high end producers
like Johnny Was, Pink Martini, and Paige Denim. Because of these brands, the
clothing is more valued because of the brand names that go with it.
Called to Surf carries mostly
unknown brands. Their clothing is nice, but the quality isn’t as good as the
General Store. Because of the lower price point, the clothes found in Called to
Surf are not as nice as some in the General Store. The stitching and fabric
quality is lower at Called to Surf than the General Store, but so are the
prices.
I noticed that the clothing for
men and women in the General Store was higher quality and higher prices, but
the children’s clothing was about the same quality and price in both stores. I
thought it was interesting that the General Store would be able to sell the
same shirt for a higher price just because it was the General Store instead of
Called to Surf.
I would recommend of the average
college student to shop at Called to Surf because, yes the quality may not be
as good, but the price point is a lot lower than at the General Store. I looked for shirts for women, which would be
better to shop for at Called to Surf. I also looked for pants for men and
although the selection was less at Called to Surf, their pants were cheaper.
And for children’s shoes the prices were a lot less at Called to Surf than the
General Store, which would be better to have because children usually grow out
of their shoes quickly.
